5 Ways to Create a Spa Night for You & Your Pup

A cozy night in doesn't have to be just for you. Your pup spends the whole day by your side, so why not wind down together? Here are five simple ways to turn an ordinary evening into a spa night for both of you.

1. Set the mood

Dim the lights, put on something slow, and light a candle for yourself. Dogs pick up on our energy, and when you slow down, they often follow. Keep candles up high and out of reach of wagging tails, and never leave a flame unattended.

2. Start with their paws

Paws take a beating from sidewalks, grass, and hot pavement. Wipe them clean with a warm, damp cloth, then work in a little paw balm with gentle pressure. Go slow and keep it positive. For a lot of dogs, this becomes the best part of the night.

3. Then care for your hands

Your hands do a lot too: the leash walks, the belly rubs, the endless tossing of the ball. While your pup settles in, give your own hands the same care with a rich hand balm. Same ritual, both of you.

4. Refresh your space

A clean, fresh-smelling bed makes rest feel even better. Wash their blanket, fluff your pillows, and lightly mist the linens in the room, spraying away from your pup and letting it dry before they climb back in.

5. End with a treat and a cuddle

Finish the night with their favorite treat and some quiet time together. No phones, no to-do list, just the two of you. That moment is the whole point.

A quick note on scents

Dogs have much more sensitive noses than we do, and some essential oils can be harmful to them. Keep scented products for your space rather than on your dog, use products made for pets on their paws and fur, and check with your vet if your pup has allergies or sensitivities.
